Quake III: Beyond the Portals comes with 4 new gladiators to fight. Below are some general info about them.
Ash (Human): Ash was also a warrior in the slipgate wars. In his mind, he thinks he's a Shambler. Oourgh! Bzzzzzzzzzzt! |
Headless (Undead Human): Headless was once a war hero in the great Strogg War, much like his older brother Nathan Grunt. An unfortunate door malfunction ended his caréer. Reanimated by the Vadrigar, Ash now continues the war inside the Arena Eternal. |
Shrub (Ent): Enraged for a thousand years of fighting of settlers trying to chop down trees have turned this once friendly guardian of the forest into an evil poison oak. |
Spirit (Ghost): Defeated as Xaero aeons ago, his vengeance rages as he haunts the arenas. |
Quake III: Beyond the Portals comes with 4 new exciting weapons.
Spitfire: A Machinegun with a firing rate far above its accuracy, but shreds its enemies into chunky kibbles. |
Bazooka: This gun hurls a highly explosive round towards its enemy. Not quite the range of the rocket launcher, but just as effective. |
Spitfire: A cross between a spud gun and a nailgun, add some glowing hot nails, then do your math. |
Blaster: This weapon emits a very powerful and deadly energy beam that destroys all matter in its path. |
Quake III: Beyond the Portals comes with a couple of new items.
Blue Health Sphere: Each blue cross you collect will add 10 points to your health (even beyond your maximum!). |
Heavy Armour Shard: These fragments improve your armor rating by 10 points, increasing it even beyond the normal maximum of 100 points. |
Other notes: The health colours have changed a little. Green gives 5, Blue gives 10, Yellow gives 25, Red gives 50, Gold gives 100. |
Quake III: Beyond the Portals comes with a new exciting holdable item.
Shadowmine: Lay this in a high-traffic area and get out. Once somebody runs over this, its best not to be within a close proximity. Oh, did I forget to mention it's kinda cloaked? |
Quake III: Beyond the Portals comes with 3 new exciting powerups.
Acceleration: Launches projectiles from your weapons twice as fast and twise as far. Now you can blast that sucker on the other side of the room with your grenade launcher. |
Vampire: When attacking your enemy, you gain half the health and armour they lose. Let others bloodline nurture your own youth. |
Replenish: Restores your weapons ammo at a reasonable rate before it expires. Think of it like a mobile ammo factory. |
Quake III: Beyond the Portals comes with new exciting enviromental hazards.
Lava Balls: Extreme fricton in the lava causes balls of heated rock to get propelled high into the air. Shapes like a ball. |
Slime Balls: The irregular movement of atoms in the highly acidic slime sometimes causes them to bond in a giant balls of slime. The balls are then forced to the surface and gets propelled into the air. |
Slime Flies: These annoying little things attacks any nearby gladiator and quickly eats through thier health and armour. |
Energy Beams: Subatomic gas heated up to extreme levels becomes very unstable. Any facilites that utilize this kind of technology needs to exhaust the surplus energy. The effect is a extremely deadly stream of energy that instantly vaporizes anything that touches it. |
Portals: Your default teleporter, but in odd shapes and weird stuff like that. |
